What's going on?

Hi Everyone! I thought we'd finally update the Colyn family blog as it has not been changed since 2006. Times are a changing.
We will try some new things to keep everyone interested and to maintain some sense of order around here. There is some social media integration for posts to be shared through Facebook, Twitter, etc. A Search function, so make sure you add labels to your posts for future reference.
Please be patient the next little while if things move around a bit, and be sure to let me know if you like or dislike whats going on.
Oh, and keep up the good posts, everyone! If you need any help logging in or posting, just contact me anytime... ~John

This Spud's for Me

Oops, I forgot to thank John and Yvonne for the potatoes.
Sam and I planted them yesterday in our garden.
Your place looks great, hope you have a super spring season.

Emma, Tante Bertha would have been proud of you "op de PA Mart".

We had a good time in Port a few weekends ago.
Thanks for the great meal Jake and Mitzie and the camp fire Aliza and Colin.

Kildonan Lodge Trip

I was lucky enough to take the weekend off and go with Johnny Madsen, in the kitchen, to his lodge out in Kildonan.

Among the prawn traps we caught a small octopus.

Here is a shot from the water of the lodge. It used to be called 'Seacrest Fishing Lodge' at one time and was last known as the Chatahoochie Lodge!
It still needs alot of work but is an awesome place regardless.
More pics to come.

The Big One

Hi everyone. Mom and Dads 50th Anniversary is coming up on May 25th. I have been talking to a few of you for ideas and this is what I have so far.

May 26 we will have an open house at the church from 12:00 to3:00. Coffee, cake. I will put an announcement in the church bulletin as well as a small write up in the local paper.

I have booked the Alberni Golf club (tentatively) and it offers a few different menues. This dinner will involve all of us, mom and dads siblings and a few others. I think that we all can pitch in to pay for this dinner. (approx. $175 per family).

I know this seems sudden but I can't believe how fast time is going by. Some ideas for the evening.......

MC - Darren or Willem
Speeches/skits - All of us
Songs - So many talented grandchildren out there, I'm sure a group of you could get together.
Floral arrangements.... I think I know some people.
Slide show.

So let me know what you all think. Thanks
