What's going on?

Hi Everyone! I thought we'd finally update the Colyn family blog as it has not been changed since 2006. Times are a changing.
We will try some new things to keep everyone interested and to maintain some sense of order around here. There is some social media integration for posts to be shared through Facebook, Twitter, etc. A Search function, so make sure you add labels to your posts for future reference.
Please be patient the next little while if things move around a bit, and be sure to let me know if you like or dislike whats going on.
Oh, and keep up the good posts, everyone! If you need any help logging in or posting, just contact me anytime... ~John

Thanksgiving dessert

Do your dinner guests cringe with the thought of another tasteless piece of pumpking pie? Why not impress them this year and go all out with this West Coast classic. Simply get one 9" prebaked pieshell and fill with a hucker of local bear bung. Your guests will be impressed and you will be, too as there is no baking required. Serve with icecream or bear spray.

Things to do in PA

Willem enjoys chocolate and strawberries with an old German friend from 'Whineburgh'.

What could be better than wine and chocolate covered strawberries?

I got the big one!!!!

One senior's annual fishing license: $11.00

Gas to go to Toquart: $280.00

Landing the one that almost got away: Priceless

Tour de Rock

Hello, everyone.

Sara and Joel will actually not be cutting their hair at the mall, but at McLean's mill instead. They have changed it to the mill this year. Not sure why and not sure how well that will go over, but spread the word so lots of people will go there. Hope to see all of you there. Or at least those in town. I think Sara is looking forward to being able to brush all her hair by herself again. And I think Joel is looking forward to being able to see again. Should be a fun evening.

Go Cops.

home for the day

The joys of family!! Today we pretty much stayed home all day ....it was so refreshing after all the new running around that we are doing!! I love the Fall ....these days are just so beautiful!! Is everyone coming home for Thanksgiving?? Where are we going and what can I bring?

Pop-up Comments

Hi Everyone.. I've changed the comments
to now show up in a pop up window..
If you have troubles or don't like it, I can change it back.. let me know
John

...and the "Rumors" continue ...

It seems that the Colyns are in perpetual motion!
Friday evening is the hair cutting of Joel and Sara. (Thanks Yvonne for the reminder.)
Saturday evening is a Bulldogs Hockey Game and also Fellowship Group for Oma and Opa.
So, I suppose this may not work out to all go to the theatre together. Apparently if they have good turnouts, then the theatre will hold the play over until the following weekend. There is also a Sunday matinee this weekend. Anyways, for those that want to see the play, just go when it suits your schedule. That would be the best. Thanks anyways for thinking about it.
- Mitzie.

Hi everyone it's strickly colyn's speaking how are you all and hey good job Joel and Sara for getting your hair cut for cancer i wish i could too but my hair doesn't grow very fast but hey maybe next year love Kiara.

"Rumor" has it that ...

...any Colyns, Banks, Howards that are interested can meet at the Portal Players Theatre here in Port Alberni on Friday evening September 30 to take in this play. The curtains go up at 7:30 p.m. It is festival seating, so if you arrive by 7:15 p.m. you should be sure to still get a good seat. Tickets can be purchased from Echo Centre, Rollin Arts Centre, Curious Coho Books, or at the door ($2.00 more). We hope to see you there. - Mitzie.

Mom and Dad

Thinking of you....

I was thinkin'...

I was having a hard time figuring this blogger thing out and then all of a sudden it dawned on me how to use it! I'm glad I can join in the banter.

Family picture????

I have heard that many of use are coming to Port Alberni for the Thanksgiving weekend. I was wondering if you would be interested in trying to get a family portrait. My girlfriend Karen is a professional photographer here and would do a great job! When I saw those big rocks in the feild by the "Red Shed" I thought to myself that it would be a perfect spot for all of us to sit/stand for a family shot. We just might need a tractor to hoist her up high to get a good shot of all of us. What do you think?? I guess we'd need everyone to commit to being there otherwise there'd be not point huh. What's a family picture without everyone there??

Can you score a goal for me, dad?
Okay, I will. And he did! Way to go.
It was fun to watch. Some of you can still chase a puck pretty good. Not bad for oldtimers.
An entertaining fundraiser.

Ella and Ella

Ella gets to meet Andrew Ella from the Bulldogs. Oh, sorry, that's just Uncle Colin dressed up as Andrew Ella.

Strickly Colyns Incidentals

Here I am again - posting two days in a row!

Aliza - Warren Lee's Studio is called "Dragon Martial Arts". You can reach him at his home phone number - 723-2605.

Jake and Emma both did the "Food Safe" Course at the College this past weekend (as well as Aaron!). They all did well.

Aalysia participated in a FieldHockey Tournament this past weekend down Duncan way. They played five games. She was certainly tired by Saturday night!

Kiara and I participated in the Church Youth Group Bottle Drive on Saturday. Over $1100.00 was raised in a few hours - wow! Then on Sunday, we went to the first Bulldogs Hockey Game of this season on home ice. The Bulldogs won - yeah! This was their fourth game - two losses and one tie on away games, and now their first win and on home ice - sweet!

Well, that's it for now. I yet have to experiment to insert a picture. That will be my homework for later this week. I'm busy for the next couple of days. Good night!

Mitzie.

The Colyn Family Blog

The Colyn Family Blog

Wow...we are soooo excited! We finally got our e-mails up and running today and our router. We are now in business! Hi everyone - Colyns, Banks, Howards. This is a quick note to test if our message will get through on the Blog.

On Saturday evening October 22 the Old Dutch Inn in Qualicum is holding their annual Rice Tafle - I'm not sure of the spelling. They have a seating at 5:00 p.m. and another seating at 7:30 p.m. Is anyone interested? Jake and I thought that it might be nice for as many of us that can to spend this evening together. Let me know by week's end - i.e. - by September 24. The lady at the Inn said that they still have room for both seatings, but that they are filling up.
Those with young children, they can spend the evening at our home.

Thanks John for helping us to get connected!

Mitzie

Can I have a freezie?

Thursday, September 15, 2005

Thanks John....it's all good now!!

thelma and loiuse

what's up?

here froggy froggy!!

about time!!!

Here we are.....I am signing in as Aliza but I am not her, I am Corrie. Our blog site does not like me for some reason.....so.....thank you Aliza for lending me your name and password. Here is a little update from the Howards. Ally has started preschool this past week and also violin lessons. Her first violin class went well but her second was spent lying on the floor. She later perked up at the group session when the teacher got the students to balance a "circle candy" (Lifesaver) on their bows. We are waiting for her instrument as they are trying to find a 1/16th sized violin (that is the smallest they come). William is walking and climbing everywhere!! He is always up to something.....chasing rabbits out of our back yard, coloring on walls or standing on top of very high places with very sharp objects while shouting "do dat, do dat". He keeps me on my toes!! I am happy to finally contribute. Hoping to hear from more of you !

Creeker Vasectomy

Creeker Vasectomy

Bob the Creeker guy goes to the doctor, because his wife
can't stand to have any more kids.
He asks the doctor to make it so he can't get her pregnant.
the doctor says "you need a vasectomy".
The doctor is just about to explain what a vasectomy is,
but stops all of a sudden and says,
"By the way, do you happen to live out Beaver Creek?"
"Yeah" says Bob.
OK, says the doctor.. I need you to get the biggest
firecracker you can find, an M-80 or a seal bomb,
and light it, drop it into a coke can and hold it to
your ear while counting to 10. That will fix you for sure"
Bob thinks for a moment, as this is an odd request.
"I think I'll get a second opinion".

So Bob goes to another doctor in town and asks to have a vasectomy.
The new doctor is about to explain how to go about getting one, but
stops short and says "Sir, do you happen to live out Beaver Creek?
Bob says " Why yes, I do.."
"Well then", says the doctor "I need you to get the biggest
firecracker you can find, an M-80 or a seal bomb, and light it,
drop it into a coke can and hold it to your ear while counting to 10.
That will solve all you're problems."

So Bob goes home to the Creek, Tells his wife about the solution,
and gets the biggest darn firecracker he can find, lights it,
then drops it into a coke can held up to his ear...
Bobs starts counting,
"One...Two...Three...Four...Five..."
Bob then places the can between his legs and starts to count
the fingers on his other hand,
"Six...Seven...Eight..."
KABOOM!!!

Hey Joel..

You got the right idea, buddy!

Tour de Rock

Well, I picked up Sara's pledge form today for cutting off her ponytail for the Tour de Rock. If anyone is interested in donating to her cause, just let us know. As of September 30, she will have short hair.

Sorry, the picture did not come. Not sure why. John will have to come and help me. What else is new. In the meantime. I will keep posting updates when there are any.

Helle

One week down 35 to go

Well, we had a successful first week of school. All the girls are settled in and happy with their classes. Ella and Amy had to make a few switches to accommodate their needs but everything is off and rolling. All the cheques have been signed.
Had our first official coffee after church at Aliza and Colin's yesterday. It was great. The kids had fun and so did we. Broke a few wine glasses, too.
This is the most recent family picture I have of us. Willem and Pluto look a lot alike don't you think?!!!!
