Welcome to the Colyn family blog page.. Here is our forum for all things related to the Port Alberni Colyn family..
What's going on?
Hi Everyone! I thought we'd finally update the Colyn family blog as it has not been changed since 2006. Times are a changing.
We will try some new things to keep everyone interested and to maintain some sense of order around here. There is some social media integration for posts to be shared through Facebook, Twitter, etc. A Search function, so make sure you add labels to your posts for future reference.
Please be patient the next little while if things move around a bit, and be sure to let me know if you like or dislike whats going on.
Oh, and keep up the good posts, everyone! If you need any help logging in or posting, just contact me anytime... ~John

good morning
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger , abounding in love.
He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
psalm 103:8-12

Jake's Angels
When cousin Abby came over, the girls had fun posing for the camera. Here they are doing their "Charlie's Angels" shot.
"A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss"
Jake and I are trying to keep our brain synapsis functioning well as we are quickly heading into middle age, so Jake signed us up for "West Coast Swing" Dance Lessons! I'm not sure how well we are doing, but we are certainly having fun ... one, two, three and four, five and six!

Aaron's Birthday Dinner
Some of you wanted to join us for a birthday dinner on friday night. It has been changed to the Barclay Hotel at six pm. The clam bucket doesn't take large parties anymore.
If you did not tell me personnally that you wanted to come I did not reserve for you but you can call and add yourself to the numbers.
See you friday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARINA!
"My Tamagachi makes me very happy"!
Carina's Birthday was on Sat. and she had her first sleepover. They watched Grease and sang to John Travolta all night. I can't believe she is 10.

Update from the mainland!
Hello Everyone,
It has been a while since we posted on here and lots has been happening . . . . so here's are latest news. I am going back to work tomorrow. I was offered a full time job in December at a company called Cintas in Aldergrove. It was a great job, but I turned it down because of the full time hours. Last week they contacted me again to offer me part time work (3 days) and so I have accepted and now I have to be there tomorrow morning! Mom and Dad are here to help for a couple of days and next week my mum comes for a couple of days and by then we are hoping to have made some concrete babysitting arrangements.
Unfortunately, there are not too many fringe benefits to this job (like cheap hotel stays!). It is a uniform provider and cleaner as well as some other industrial products (welcome mats, soaps etc). I am the only one in HR there and so that will be a big change for me. One great thing is that it is only 10 minutes away from home.
Before I was offered the job, we decided to finally rip out our old bathroom upstairs! In hindsight, this wasn't the best move as I don't know when we will have time to put it back together!
This is during the deconstruction:

We now have the bathroom completely stripped and empty . . . . just need to get a tub in because the kids aren't really in love with the shower!

Saturday with Opa
Opa, Jake, and Aalysia had a workbee on Saturday hauling three big loads of firewood. It was a beautiful sunny day in Port Alberni. Thanks Opa! You can come and have a little "ticklecha" (snooze) by the woodstove whenever you like.

Easter
I was wondering if there are any plans being made for Easter. I thought it would be nice at some time for a bunch of us (as many as possible) to get together after a Sunday and go for a hike or down to Rathrevor for a picnic! Remember we used to do these little trips all the time. Check your calendars and lets plan it.

Thought for yesterday, today and tomorrow!
I received a email today and this was a line in a story. I thought I'd share it with the family as it is so powerful.
"If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it"
Hope all of you are having a great day!

Crystal Cathedral bronzes and chrome gnomes.
I also took in the BIG show when I was in Anahiem. These bronze statues are all over the property.I always thought that the top one looked a lot like Dad and the chrome baby Jesus looked a lot like Ezra. Oh well I guess you had to be there!
California Rocks!
Just a few more pictures of our trip. See that roller coaster in the back that was everyones favorite ride......and that ferris wheel was the worst, the cars swayed all over the place!!!!
