Okay now that everyone has had some laughs at mine and Willem's expense, I thought I would just inform you all that I am not hanging out with Brad Pitt (shucks) and I am definitely not eating deer pudding.
We are having a good time though, enjoying visiting will all the family and also seeing a little bit of the country for Micah's sake. Although her favorite thing to see is probably a store. However her and Ella did take a trip by train to Copenhagen for the day and enjoyed themselves. Had a chance to see the little mermaid.
I hear that there is a lot of snow in Port Alberni. That must be true and everyone must be busy shovelling since no one has blogged a picture so that we can see how much there is. Pretty sad. It will probably be the only snowfall of the year and we are missing it. A picture would be nice. Somebody.
Anyways, all is well in Denmark. Hope all is well with all of you. Looking forward to coming home.
Welcome to the Colyn family blog page.. Here is our forum for all things related to the Port Alberni Colyn family..
What's going on?
Hi Everyone! I thought we'd finally update the Colyn family blog as it has not been changed since 2006. Times are a changing.
We will try some new things to keep everyone interested and to maintain some sense of order around here. There is some social media integration for posts to be shared through Facebook, Twitter, etc. A Search function, so make sure you add labels to your posts for future reference.
Please be patient the next little while if things move around a bit, and be sure to let me know if you like or dislike whats going on.
Oh, and keep up the good posts, everyone! If you need any help logging in or posting, just contact me anytime... ~John

Colyn family calendar
Hey all, I am thinking of putting together a Colyn family calendar for 2007. If everyone participates we could have a calendar that would have one family featured per month. So...If you want your family picture included send a shot my way - edcorrie@shaw.ca - Make sure that the picture of your family is sent as original size. They are about $23 (tax incl) a piece.....let me know how many your family would like. Oh also....with your picture can you send any dates that you'd like marked...ie...birthdays or anniversaries. I hope to at least get a picture from everyone....even if you don't want to order one :) I am going send it out in a week...Dec.6th.
Hizzle on the sizzle!
Awe shucks, no time like the present to plan the gastronomic event of the year.
If New Years eve will be happening in Victoria Sunday Dec.31, what day could we collectively put another dent in the pacific ecosystem?
Anyday is fine for most of the locals I think?, but we should still try to plan a day so others can book a day off.
Pan in hand.

It's Toquart Time!
Ah....Fois grois, caviar, good wine and good times. That is the substance of Toquart. Hoping this happens again this year. This blog is to get all the men thinking of what day might be the best for us to get together. New Year's Eve is on a Sunday night - so maybe we can head out to the beach on the Friday before. This means the we would all need to be in PA on Thursday night. What do you think?

candy apples and snow
Ed had holidays this week so we spent some time in Vancouver. We had a great time and were very surprised to be trudging thru the snow last night on our way home!! We measured 12 inches today in our back yard. Ally and William's highlight of our time in Vancouver (other than seeing the cousins of course) were the candy apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory. Anthony, I took this picture for you ...have you sold your branch idea to "HERMES"?

The Warmland
We went for a drive the other day by Maple Bay
and found an oak tree with fresh new leaves on it.
Now we see why the first nations people called
this place "Cowichan" which means "the warmland".
Bas it's great to hear that you are home and doing well.
When Ezra heard that you got to play all sorts
of video games at the hospital he
hoped that he would get really sick soon.
Hope all of you are doing well.

Superhero!!
Sebastian....we love you and are praying that God would give you strength and clean your body of all the bacteria !!!!
Update on Sebastian
Hello Evewryone
Well here it goes, Thursday morning Bas feels a little sore but decides to go to school anyways. By 9.30 a little friend of his tell the teacher that he is not doing well and that he looks reaaly sick. The teacher calls Connie..(trudy was at the auction and i was in the plane) and connie brings him to the clinic.. The clinic immediately calls for an ambulance and they bring him (sirens and all)to the hospital, The hospital cannot understand why he is not responding to treatments and the put him unconsciouse with morphine immediately . They cant controll the swelling in his larynx and then they put a tube in his throat and put him on a respirator because he was not breathing on his own power (his voice box was closed due to how inflamed it was). The hospital called "childrens hospital" and the "medivac team" transfered him to "childrens" via ambulance.
I met him at the hospital after having dropped dad off and i saw him for the first time, lying in the ambulance full of tubes and pipes and monitors. I follow them in and watch no less that 5 doctors and 3 nurses go to work on him in an "isolation room" they take me away and tell me that he will now go into OR. They have to take him off morphine and wake him up only to immediately put him out totally to do a seriouse inspection on him.
Half hour later a doctor tell us that he "hopes" that is a Bacterial infection in his larynx, wind pipe, that has spread into the bronchia in his lungs. When i ask what could it else be, he says we wont talk about that until we know that it is not the first diagnosis.
I am allowed to go in again to see him and the he becomes stabilized. I spend the night there.
this morning they are still doing tests to isolate the exact strains (5 in total) of the bacterium that are still found in the pus that came out of his lungs the night before. They are currently doing some more tests but he should come out of icu this afternoon. He has his own room where he will be moved to out of icu but he is still considered infectuous, and therefor gets his own room. he is still heavily medicated but is not hooked up to any monitors anymore, and has no sedatives or morphine in him.
Anyways, thanks everyone for the love and care and above all your sincere prayers i really felt uplifted last night.

Howard happenings
The night I came home from the "Women of faith" trip I found another frog on our doorstep. I added him to our terrarium which was already inhabited by "Pumpkin" (fellow frogger who we have had for 2 months....who has been fed LIVE bait daily). After a few days of searching high and low for double the amount of LIVE bait (hard to find on these cold days) I decided that we should let the 2 croaking bundles of joy loose to hibernate for the winter. After many tears from Ally she succumbed to the idea as long as she could play with them before we let them go. I let them play, stretch , drop, squish, sniff, kiss, and tickle "Pumpkin and Pumpkina" for about 20 minutes before we let them loose in the bamboo trees. I promised the kids that we will try to find them again in the spring when it is easier to catch thier food....crane flies. I admit to buying mini crickets at Petland twice. However, paying $5 a week to feed pet frogs is a little over budget in my mind.
Another thing I discovered when I came home from Vancouver was that Ally is trying to catch up to me with the amount of stitches she will get over her lifetime. She pulled a large bar stool (see background) over onto her forehead which left a huge goose egg on one side of her forehead and a gaping slash on the other. She had an eventful day going with daddy to the emergency room for 5 stitches and then to Boston pizza for her favorite pasta "bugs and cheese".

What is it?
So here is an idea for a blog game.
Post pictures of odd things and we all have to guess what they are. The one requirement is that the pictures are ones that you have actually taken. None of this finding pics on the web business. I've started us off with an easy one but I am sure many of you can challenge us even more.

The Grey Cup is coming up on Sunday November 19 in Winnipeg. For those of you who can't make it to Winnipeg, we are hosting a Grey Cup Party in our living-room! We've booked a big-screen T.V. for the event; however, if anyone has access to a powerpoint projector - that would be ideal. Let us know a.s.a.p.. The half time show in Winnipeg will be Nelly Furtado. The half time show at Jake's will be a Birthday Party for Kiara and Amy! (Happy Birthday girls!) So, if everyone can bring: some munchies for the game (appies/junk food); plus supply your own alcoholic beverages; plus a dozen open-face buns for the meal (we'll look after soup); plus your quarters for the Grey Cup Pool; and, dress according to your team's colours (this is optional - also, it still hasn't been determined who's playing West vs East in the Grey Cup Game). The game starts at 3:00 p.m., so come anytime after 2:00 p.m. to place your bets and to get a good seat. If you could R.S.V.P. so that we can be sure to have enough seats - thanks. We hope to see you here.

Way back in the olden days
Today during dinner Nathan was asking what the Grease movie was about. I said it was about some teenagers singing and dancing and it took place back in the olden days. Hanna pipes in "it was like in the 80's".
